What is Atrovent?
Atrovent is a bronchodilatator with the active substance ipratropium bromide, a short-acting anticholinergic agent (SAMA). It is used for the treatment of COPD and as an additional therapy for asthma.
Unlike Spiriva (Tiotropium), Atrovent acts only 4-6 hours and must therefore be inhaled several times a day. It is particularly useful in combination with beta-2-agonists such as salbutamol.
Atrovent is available as a dosing aerosol and as a solution for nebulisers.
